Main Schemes
Nation Food Security Act (NFSA)
As passed by the Parliament Govt. has notified NFSA 2013 on 10th September 2013 with the object to provide for food and Nutritional Security in human life cycle approach, by ensuring access to adequate quantity of quality food at affordable prices to people to live a life with dignity. The Act provides for coverage of upto 75% of the rural population and upto 50% of the urban population for receiving subsidized food grains under Targeted Public Distribution System (TDPS), thus covering about 2/3 of the population. The eligible persons will be entitled to receive 5 k.g of food grains per person per month at the Central Govt. subsidized price of Rs.3/-, 2/-. 1/- per K.g of Rice/ Wheat/coarse grains. But the State Govt. distribute the food grains at free of cost.
AAY (Anthyodaya Anna Yojana)
The existing A A Y Households which constitute the poorest of poor will continue to receive 35 k.g of food grains per households per month at free of cost.
